Bible Studies
Tuesday Night Bible Classes at Impact
Tuesday
nights offer yet another opportunity to be taught God's word.
Classes begin at 7:00 pm for all ages. Following are a list
of the classes available: Adult Class, Kindergarten, 1st -
5th grade, Middle School, High School.
Wednesday Night Bible Classes at Impact
Wednesday
nights at Impact are exciting!! Teachers from all over come
share an evening with our children. We average around 100
elementary age children each week. Each week is a new theme.
Each week there are skits, memory verses, and lots of songs.
Come see what God is doing!!
- Liberty Island (Mentally & physically
challenged)
It
houses over 200 men and women who are mentally and physically
challenged. Each Monday evenihng at 7:00 pm, Impact offers
a worship service of praise, prayer and bible study. Through
this ministry, many now know the gospel, have accepted Jesus
and attend our Sunday services. We believe if Jesus was walking
the earth, this would be a place he would come and visit.
- Irvington Village (Public Housing Apartments)
This
is a public housing project located on Fulton Ave. in the
North Houston/Downtown area. Each Thursday morning at 10:00
in the office building, Bible studies and prayers are offered
to this community. We have refreshments, sing praises, give
spiritual guidance and fellowship with one another. Impact
provides many of their physical and household needs such as
groceries, clothing, home furnishings and appliances. There
are "outings" on a monthly basis. We have held gospel
meetings, gospel concerts, and door-knocking campaigns here.
Through this outreach, many have become members of Impact.
- Outdoorsmen ( and women)
While we were still meeting on Washington Ave.
and in the early 90's, Larry Frank who had long been interested
in jail/prision ministry and at that time associated with
the Westbury congregation began to come down and offer a small
meal and Bile study to a few "ex-offenders", those
coming out of prison. Doug Williams later began to assist
Larry and added Bible study to those who were in the grips
of various forms of addiction. Larry moved on to full time
prison and jail ministry, but the program he began contined.
Les Rose was added about four years ago and assists with Monday
and Wednesday meetings of a group of men and women, mostly
homeless, mostly unemployed, some addicted and some mentally
ill. Our facilities were designed with separate showers for
men and women and equipment for washing and drying of laundry.
They come early and stay for the 4 o'clock meal followed by
a Bible Study. On Wednesday mornings they receive a "street
bag" from the Distribution Center. It is mainly food
that can be eaten with little preparation. In addition they
can receive clothing. Many have been helped by this program.
Some have gone on to their reward. Many baptized. Some have
returned to other parts of the country to rejoin family. Jobs
and housing have been secured for some. Many more fill those
vacancies and we average 30-50 on any given day.
